I'm pleased to announce the release of the next major version of TracDown, 1.2.0!

After carefully listening and taking on board a lot of feedback from TracDown customers, I've jam packed a lot of new features into this release, along with the usual sprinkling of Bug Fixes.

TracDown 1.2.0

Category: Applications

Last Updated A minute ago

TracDown is a fully featured Bug Tracker. Helping you to Track Down your bugs.

TracDown makes bug tracking very easy, and was designed with the user in mind. You can perform otherwise complex tasks with only a few clicks.

What's New in TracDown 1.2.0?

New Moderation Menu

In TracDown 1.2 I've added quite a few new moderation features, such as "Hide", "Delete" and "Lock" issue. In 1.1 I had the issue tools in the issue itself. This felt cramped with so many options, and so I have created the new Moderation Tools Menu.

Similar to the Forums Moderation Tools menu, this should help you with moderating issues.

Assign Issue to Staff Member

A common thing to do in Software Development is to Assign a particular issue to a member of staff. here at IPS they have a new severity for this, "Confirmed - FAO Matt". I thought this was a little wasteful (and it also gives Matt more work http://content.community.invisionpower.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png), and came up with this feature.

You have the option to Assign an issue to a Staff Member (controlled in the usergroup settings), when creating or editting an issue.

You can also re-assign and unassign an issue from the issue itself

http://mikey.junkput.com/trac-1.2-issue-assign-changer.png

The Staff Member will recieve a notification saying that they've been assigned that issue, and will also be able to view all of their assigned issues from a new page.

New Overview Page

Since it's inception, TracDown has had two tabs which do exactly the same. Overview and Unconfirmed. These tabs both listed all of the unconfirmed issues, and occasionally caused an indirect issue where the Unconfirmed Severity had been removed.

TracDown 1.2.0 rectifies this with the introduction of a brand new Overview tab. I believe that an Overview should be exacltly that. An "at a glance" overview of what is happening in that category.

Each Category has it's own Overview, complete with the latest activity on issues, the latest issues and a graph which charts the number of issues which have been fixed in that version.

Issue Management from the AdminCP

An oft requested feature for TracDown has been a page which lists 'All Issues' where you can manage everything at once, regardless of category, version, severity, etc. While I'd wanted to implement something akin to this for quite a while, it simply wasn't feasible on the front end, where people had requested this.

Enter the Issue Manager. Where better to manage all of your issues in one place, than in the AdminCP? The new page lists the version, severity, category of the issue, and allows you to edit the issue and delete it if needed.

Timeline Management

Again listening to user feedback, I've added a timeline management module to the AdminCP. This is handy in case you accidentally mark something as "Fixed" when it is not, and you do not wish to clutter up your Issue Timeline with rectifying that mistake.

Simply input the ID of the Issue timeline you wish to manage, and you'll be taken to a screen where you can remove the offending entries.

Automatically Post Issues to a Forum

Another requested feature was that all issues be posted to a forum on creation, and I've added this in TracDown 1.2.0.

This is a feature which could be useful for an 'Archive' forum, where you can put all issues, or a staff forum where you can discuss the issue in private amongst staff.

It is of course enabled by a setting, as with most things in TracDown, if you do not wish to use it, simply keep it disabled. http://content.community.invisionpower.com/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png

Generate List of "Fixed In This Version"

A feature which I noticed a lot of members missed when IPS migrated from Tracker to IP.Content was this feature, the "Generate Report of Fixed Issues in this version". I see the merit in such a feature in a bug tracker, and have incorporated this as a feature in TracDown 1.2.0.

To generate a new issue, simply select the new tab which is added below the Severities Tabs on the Categories, and choose your version.

http://mikey.junkput.com/trac-1.2-generate-list-fixedin.png

This will then generate a list of fixed issues, complete with links to the issues and titles of the issues. There is an optional setting on this page to "Toggle Links", so as to only post a list of fixed issues without links to those issues. This is useful for private bug trackers for public projects.

Versions AdminCP Area Redesigned!

After much deliberation and again, taking user feedback on board, I've given some much needed attention to the Versions area of the AdminCP.

In previous versions of TracDown, the Versions page could get quite long and unwieldy. I have addressed this by separating versions by their categories in a tabbed layout.

Issue Previews

Another thing which was requested was Issue Previews, similar to those of the Forums own "Topic Previews". I have added this to TracDown 1.2.0, making it easier to see more information about the issue 'at a glance'.

http://mikey.junkput.com/trac-1.2-issue-preview.png

Of course, this feature can be enabled and disabled via a setting in the AdminCP.

UserCP Integration

In keeping with TracDown's close integration to IP.Board, I've now implemented UserCP settings. Right now there is only the one setting: Whether to Auto-Follow an issue when posting it, but I hope to add more settings based on user feedback in future.

Child Categories Update

Since 1.1.0 TracDown has had Child Categories. In 1.1.0 you could access those via a dropdown menu. While this saved space, I did not believe this is practical, so for 1.2, I have changed it so that Child Categories now display on a secondary filter bar, similar to the main categories.

Create Issues on behalf of members

Again listening to user feedback, I've added a type-ahead field on the Add Issue form, where Staff Members can create an issue on behalf of another user.

http://mikey.junkput.com/trac-1.2-create-issue-on-behalf-of-users.png

Tracker Importer Update & URL Redirection

Now included with TracDown is a Tools directory. Within this Tools directory is a htaccess.txt file which contains the RewriteRules for a Tracker to TracDown conversion, so that your old URL's will not be lost.

Also, with 1.2.0 the Tracker Importer got an update so that it now supports the severities from Tracker, and imported TracDown issues should retain the severities which the Tracker Issue had.
